From a young age, all I wanted to do was make music and perform. Throughout Elementary, Middle, and High School, I sang in the choir, played in symphonic and jazz bands, performed in the school musicals, was in a rock band with some friends, and was in a singing and dancing group called Accompany of Kids. It was through these experiences (and my parents' eclectic music tastes) that I was exposed to multiple genres of music, and further fueled my passion. I chose to pursue choral music education in college, and continued to play my trombone, bass, and guitar. I worked as a middle and high school choir director throughout my 10 years in education. Along the way, I picked up ukulele, mandolin, cheater banjo (aka 6 string banjo), tuba, piano, drums, and upright bass and am always looking for another challenge. I also enjoy arranging and composing music! I have a lot of choral arrangements from my days as a choral director, and currently do some orchestrating for my current Director of Music job at my church. One day, when I have infinite time, I will finally record and release an original album!
I also hold a Live sound reinforcement and recording arts degree from the Conservatory of Recording Arts and Sciences (CRAS) in Tempe, AZ. I owned/operated a Live Sound and Lighting company for years and had numerous local bands as clients. I also owned and operated a recording studio for a short time, making albums with some local bands, as well as doing live on-location recording for recitals and concerts.
I have had the privilege to experience many amazing musical experiences in my lifetime, and I love every chance I get to make music. There isn't a gig that's too small, just a small-minded musician. Whether it a professional tour, or a small coffee house, I know that the music we make is inspiring/soothing/healing/energizing/touching the soul of someone, somehow. I am blessed to be able to continue my arts career as the Director of Music and Technology at a local church, while playing in pit orchestras, being a part of musical production teams(pit conductor, MD, or both), and playing in jazz combos/big bands around town.
There are a lot of amazing and talented musicians in this city, and I call many of them my friends and colleagues. When you choose to work with me, what I can promise you is this: I will show up on time (early) to the gig, I will have professional gear and transportation, I will dress appropriately, I will know my music, and I will play the gig. I pride myself on being easy to work with and easy to get along with. I have played with and mentored student musicians along the way in many high school pit orchestras, and have experience in both student-pits being the only ringer, or fully professional pits.
Let's work together soon!
